Appearing before the media can be tough even with good news to deliver, but when that news is difficult or complicated, it can be even harder to retain composure and professionalism. This practical course is designed around the customer and can be delivered with short notice if required.
By the end of this half day intensive session delegates will have a set of skills to enable them to feel confident and in control facing the press and broadcast media
Based on sound theory and tested by experience, this course is practical and hands-on. You'll be interviewed, filmed and recorded and given encouraging and constructive feedback.
What does the session cover?
- Understanding the media - needs and priorities of TV, Radio, print and internet and what they are looking for from a story Style and delivery - body language and vocal delivery
- TV & Radio Etiquette - sitting, standing, where to look, who to look at, clothes, accessories.
- Interview preparation - what makes a good interview.
- Interview practice - face to face and "down the line" interviews for TV and radio. Variety of interviews to ensure that delegates know how to deal with whatever is thrown at them
- Playback and feedback of interviews
- Wrap up
Who should attend?
Anyone who is likely to have to face the press, particularly at short notice. Anyone who is named in the company crisis management plan as media spokesperson. People who need to brush up their interview skills whilst learning crucial inside tips from experienced radio and TV producers. Company spokespeople who are used to print and internet media but need to understand how to look, speak and act on television and radio. Anyone who wants to experience challenging and practical training that will develop their skills, build their confidence and fulfil their business needs.
